Tree trunks discarded from “urban forests,” and rescued from landfills, wood chippers and power company burners...these are the raw material and inspiration for my large-scale sculptures.
As the lathe turns each 2,000 pound tree trunk or crotch, it exposes the end grain of the wood, inside to outside. The turning process reveals each tree’s unique history. I am privileged to be the first to see this rare beauty.
Every sculpture I produce was once hidden inside a tree trunk, waiting to be revealed and enjoyed.
